Mercantilism
- Mercantilism is a way of international trade, and was used by the majority of the countries in the 1600s. Mercantilism required that the country export more than it imports. To do this, the colonies had to harvest raw materials and resources and send them to England, where they would be manufactured, then shipped back to America to be purchased by the colonists.
Eventually, however, the British government became more lenient with the colonists in this aspect, because they needed to have the colonists on their side during their battle with the French. The colonists did not easily forgive and forget, though, and remained quietly angry about the trade restrictions.
